Teeing off has to be the most important shot of the day, it dictates how easy it is for you in the approach shot or some cases hit the green or the hole. The tee shot can be difficult for people who are inexperienced. I ask myself this question! “What can I help do to fix this problem? Well this is your lucky day!. I’m going to give you 3 golf driving tips I believe can get you to gain huge yards and also consistency.

At the beginning check your stance. Be sure to keep a comfortable distance away from the ball . Have your stance with both feet shoulder width apart, doing this provides you will a solid stance to power out your drive.

For more golf driving tips please feel free to click here How To Improve Golf Drive

You might need to loosen up in your swing. If you have a tight grip loosen up on that aspect aswel. Believe it or not you are able to leverage your body to whip out your shot. Believe me when I say this that many golfers assume that tensing up and showing all muscle is going to create greater distance with your drives. This is not true. Timing, power and flexibility and technique come as one to project the perfect swing.

Make sure that during your downswing not to come over the top of the ball, it can cause you to slice. Using too much upper body instead of using of your powerhouse is the cause of this. Using your core to rotate your hips slightly you will drive the ball at a greater distance.

Please practice the basic fundamentals of this read, go to a driving range and practice these tips until you are sure you are consistent.

I hope I made this read simple enough for you to understand. There are more tips for you to check out in my other articles but these will do for now once you get familiar with the process.

Golf Is All In The Head

I wish i had a dollar for every time i have heard the immortal words keep your head down “Your head came up again, thats why you hit a bad golf shot, Keep your head down” Then I would be very rich indeed. This one piece of well intended advice is a killer for a good golf swing … whatever else you do, keeping your head down shouldn’t have anything to do with your golf game, please - KEEP YOUR HEAD STILL.

The more you try to keep your head down during the golf swing, the less chance you have of making the correct turn on the backswing. Your shoulder rotation will either be restricted by the head position or you will compensate by tilting your shoulders, either way keeping your head down is going to cause serious problems and they don’t get any better as i hear you muttering to yourself “gotta keep my head down, must keep my head down, please don’t let my head come up again” damn another bad shot !!!! and on and on …

Ok so what should you do i hear you say. The answers as always are straightforward and if you are struggling with your golf swing because you are trying too hard on keeping your head down, STOP right now.

What you must do straight away is lift your chin up as high as you can while still being able to see the golf ball comfortably, this will produce a good golf posture keeping the back of your head in a straight line with your spine. Doing this will create space for your shoulders to turn correctly on the backswing without knocking your head to one side or causing you to tilt, therefore making sure your head has a chance to remain STILL.

And therein lies the key that will help you to create a much better swing, allowing you to maintain your height throughout the golf swing leading to more consistent golf shots. It will take time to adjust and get comfortable with your new head position but it will be worth it, so work hard at it and reap the benefits.

Remember next time your on the golf course … don’t keep your head down, Lift your chin up and this will allow you to keep your HEAD STILL. Which was after all what you had hoped to achieve when concentrating so hard to keep it down.

Fix Your Golf Swing With These Tips

One of the questions that I think a lot of people would like to know is, “how long will it take to fix my swing .In the next sections, I show you some different approaches you can take.  After reading them, it’s up to you to decide which approach you will take.

Swing Fix 1 - Purchase New Equipment

One of the things everyone has tried at one time or another is to buy new clubs in the hopes that their game will change.   Now, I don’t want to totally discount this fix because buying new clubs can improve your golf game if you’re playing the wrong clubs, or your clubs are not properly fitted to you and your swing. What you should do, is find an experienced clubfitter and have your clubs fitted and your swing checked.

Buying new clubs gives you a quick fix in another way. New clubs feel different from your current clubs.  This means that when you hit shots with them, you’re thinking so much about how the new club feels that you aren’t thinking of how you’re swinging. This new feeling totally clears your mind but it doesn’t last long.Using your new clubs for a couple of weeks and they won’t feel all that different so you go right back to thinking about your swing. The best thing to do would be to stop experimenting with new clubs.

As I mentioned earlier, try to find a professional clubfitter and get fitted. Then, stay focused on working on your swing.

Swing Fix 2 - Swing Tips

We’ve all picked up the latest golf magazine and tried the latest free golf tips hoping they will magically get our game back on track.  The problem is, most people don’t know their swing well enough to determine if, in fact, these tips would apply to their swing. If you don’t know your swing well enough, and you try these tips, you may actually be making your swing worse. Plus, a tip is just a tip.  It’s not necessarily going to improve your fundamentals.

An example of a tip would be to move your hands into a stronger grip positon.Even though a tip like this may help you sqaure the clubface better through impact, you are still not doing the correct grip.Make sure you’re very careful the next time you experiement with one of these tips from your friend, or in magazines.  A good idea would be to discuss the tip with your head pro or teaching pro first to see if it would be a good fit for your game.  Then, and only then, would you attempt to try it.If it works, great!

Swing Fix 3 - No Focus

So many people are looking for the instant answer that they fall into the trap of trying way too many things all at once. This approach will never work.Unfortunately, this will be too confusing.  Plus, you may have tried so many things that you can’t remember what worked and what didn’t.Even if you had some success, it may have just been luck. The only way you truly know if this way of working on your swing is a success is if you remain successful in the future.

Swing Fix 4 - Only Work on 1 Thing

The best thing you can do to fix your golf swing is to work on one thing untl you have it mastered. If you take this approach, you remain focused on that one thing therefore, you will not be experimenting. To work on your swing this way, you will need to study a swing method or take lessons from a qualified pro.By working on your swing this way, you solidify the changes because you are only focused on one thing at a time.  Now, I know a lot of people are think this will take too long.If you compare this way to the other fixes I descreibed, you’ll make progress faster this way.

The reason is, the other ways I described only present a short term fix whereas, isolating one part of your swing develops the right fundamentals that will stay with your long into the future.

Mental Golf Techniques To Take Your Game To The Next Level

As golf players, we are always pushing to perfect our game. It is a continual battle for improvement that seams never ending. Even the professional golfers are constantly working on their game. When you see even the pros struggling to maintain a constant level, that shows you how difficult golf can be.

Do you know that only about 5% of golfers Worldwide can break 70? What is it that those golfers have that we have not got? According to golf manufacturers and their advertising claims, we need the same expensive golf equipment that the pros use to play to their level.

That obviously is marketing hype, as you can now pick up the same driver that a PGA star used last year for under $200. So, many of us do have technologically advanced clubs and golf balls that the pros use; why are we still unable to break 70 or even 80?

30 years ago 25% of golfers broke 90 and today that number has only risen to 28%. Billions have been spent on developing new technologically advanced golf clubs and balls. Millions have also been spent by advertisers trying to push these products down our throats.

So we now have these clubs that are easier to use, are more forgiving, have higher launch angles, plus golf balls that combine optimum distance, spin and feel. Still, the majority of golfers are still struggling to shoot in the 80’s! It seams that a great golf game can not be bought; not even with all the golf swing guides, hundreds of new golf training aids, or up to date instruction methods.

The top 5% of golfers know something that we don’t. It appears that that “thing” that they possess is mastery of the Mental Game of Golf. That is the missing ingredient that can promote the quickest and most lasting change in any golfer’s game. It is interesting to note that this is the only area that doesn’t cost a penny to use, however hardly anyone uses it.

The mental golf game: Using your mind in a calculated, methodical and focused way is the surest method of improving your game and lowering your scores. Mastering the Inner Game of Golf can do wonders for your game. But you have to understand how to implement the methods.

After you do, you will have confidence in yourself and your game, be able to control your attention, cure your golf nerves and anxiety, have clear focus and mental toughness, and eliminate anger from your game – plus many more benefits.

Awareness of the mental game of golf is what separates the rest of us from the top 5% of golfers. You can see it in action on the PGA Tour because all those guys have access to the same equipment, golf swing gurus, and putting gurus. The difference between them comes down to how well they master their mental game of golf during each tournament.

Obviously, at their level and with all the pressure and media coverage, it is difficult for them to maintain high levels of concentration and focus week after week, year after year. That is why even the likes of Tiger Woods can not win every major in a year or even dominate the majority of events in a season, every season.

But for mere mortals like us, understanding and using the mental game of golf techniques can have an immediate and long lasting positive affect on our game. It is the quickest way to lower your scores and take your game to the next level. If you would like more information on how to start, then read How to Learn the Mental Game of Golf. Draw Up Your Own Golf Scorecard

July 16, 2009 by barryh

It’s another day in the Golf Shop at my Golf Club and I am giving out scorecards for the weekly golf competition, when in walks Jim, a Golf Club member bemoaning his bad luck on the golf course. What’s wrong i asked and he said that they should do something about the 13th hole. It’s a nightmare for me he says, it always destroys my scorecard along with a few other holes I could tell you about.

Jim has a mid to high golf handicap so I asked him what’s your handicap these days Jim? I play off a 17 handicap he said. just to let you know The 13th Hole on Winterfield golf course is a 368yd par 4 with a stroke index of 2. So I asked Jim what do you think your par is? It’s a par 4 Kevin you know it is, he replied. It is for me I said, but what’s your par? He looked at me with a vacant stare so I proceeded to put him out of his misery.

Your par for that hole is 5 not 4, with your handicap you can take a 5 and still not lose anything in relation to your handicap. So every time you stand on the 13th tee and think about making a par 4 you are making it more difficult for yourself. But if you stood on that tee and said to yourself it’s a par 5 you can bet the hole is gonna seem a lot easier to play. I am sure you would be more relaxed and think, that’s not hard I can do that, and that is exactly how you should approach every hole you play.

And that’s the problem most mid to high handicap golfers have, they are not playing their own game they are trying to play low handicap golf. This is where good course management and mental approach comes in to play.

You must make out a personal scorecard relative to your handicap. In Jim’s case there is only one hole on the golf course that he is expected to par and that is stroke index 18 the easiest hole on the course. If your golf course has a par of 70 and your handicap is 15 then your par for the course is 85. I hope you get my drift here because it’s an important part of golf course management.

I know it goes against the grain but it will make each hole seem easier and allow you to play with and relax. Instead of getting out the driver on these tougher holes and then messing up because you feel you must try to get a par, take golf clubs you are more comfortable with. Now you have your new mental approach with regard to par you will be pleased to see how much easier it is to play each individual golf hole. A par 4 on the course where you have a shot means 3 shots to reach the green and 2 putts. Think this way and you will be pleasantly surprised how many times you make an actual par, which in your case means … Net Birdie ….

I ended by telling Jim to think about his approach to the golf course now! Standing on par 3’s that now become par 4’s .. How much easier is that on the mind? With a nod of thanks and a gleam in his eye Jim wandered off to the bar to join his friends and have a well-earned drink.

This amazing game of golf is difficult enough without putting a lot of pressure on yourself. Manage your own game better by thinking correctly and your golf course management will get better as well as your enjoyment of the game. Look at each hole on your golf course in a new light. Draw up your own personal scorecard.. NOW !!

How To Use Subliminal Messages to Improve Your Golf Game

July 16, 2009 by barryh

It is said that the game of golf is 90% mental, so learning to control the inner game of golf is essential. Many golfers struggle for years until they learn how to use mental golf training techniques to their advantage. So don’t spend any more money on the latest golf driver, golf training aid, or lessons until you know how to implement the mental game of golf.

What do subliminal messages have to do with golf, you may think? Well, Tiger Woods has used Subliminal Affirmations since the age of 13. Most of the other top PGA professionals also use powerful mental techniques - in fact, it is the missing ingredient that the top 5% of golfers use.

What are Subliminal Affirmations?

The way this technique works is that the (audio) messages go straight into your unconscious mind and bypass your conscious mind. The unconscious part of our mind controls our habits and behavior.

Your brain is sometimes filled with negative thoughts that tells you that you can’t do this or that, and it is constantly putting you down. But, since the affirmations are subliminal, they sidestep your conscious mind and go straight into your unconscious mind, where there is no resistance.

Your mind will then receive any messages that gets through to it, and directly use them to build new thought patterns and behaviors. In the case of subliminal affirmations for golfers, the complex movements of the golf swing will become a natural habit, just like riding a bicycle. If your unconscious mind is trained right, your golf game will work on autopilot; so you don’t have to think.

The Power of Subliminal Affirmations

Did you know that subliminal techniques were used in advertising? In fact, they were so powerful and effective that they have now been banned. You have also probably seen subliminal programs that put you through a complete sleep cycle in only 20 minutes or others that you listen to before going to bed that make you sleep deeply all night long.

Other subliminal affirmation audio programs are used to help you with relationship building, love life, business success, or self confidence. They are powerful and proved techniques - but as a golfer, you almost certainly want to know how these techniques can help you improve your golf game.

Amazing Golf Mind

A new mental golf program called Amazing Golf Mind Audio Program can indeed help you take your golf game to the next level. All you have to do is listen to this program for just 20 minutes before going to bed, three to four times a week, and your golf game will improve and you will lower your scores - all without practicing! Traditionally, learning the mental game of golf techniques was not easy, but with the audio program from Amazing Golf Mind it is easy as falling off a push-bike!

Cure Golf Hook Tips

Golf Slice is a major issue for many golfers out there. Also many golfers out there face the issue of the dreaded Golf Hook.

Golf hook is a common problem for many golfers even for professionals, you will see time after time the best golfers in the world stuff up a shot or two. What makes the pros different from the rest is that they can identify their faults and correct them straight away. So in saying that you, the reader have not identified that yet. It is only a matter of time.

Want to be certain to make that irritating golf hook go away, source here for more info Stop Golf Tips

The truth is no matter what skill level maybe at this stage, you can change. Scouts Honour.

From this article I hope I give you a sense of direction to stopping that dreaded golf hook.

Check your grip tension, loosen up during the swing if you hold it tight. This could be the reason for the hook. When your grip is tight you will tend to over rotate your wrists which causes you to close the clubface upon contact. Please analyse your grip constantly until you begin to understand what you have to do. Measure and test your new found awareness at the driving range.

During your stance, have the ball placed a little further from your body. Usually this is good for the average guy who tends to hook alot, which in turn makes you use a little bit more bottom hand which may cause you to slice which is not a bad thing, you are on the right track. The main purpose in this tip is to try and do the opposite whether you slice or hook. Practice this often with small adjust and you will see improvements.

If you are right handed, aim for the right of your target, if left handed try the opposite. This maybe helpful for you at this stage if you are still having trouble with the hook. Test this tip out until you can get a good consistent result.

Make sure that the follow through of your swing ends with your weight on your front foot. To me this is the most important aspect to cure golf hook. With your weight on your back foot you will more than likely hook the ball. Focus on what you are doing with your current swing. This could be the number one reason as to why you constantly hook the ball to the left.

Develop a great aim and improve your golf swing

Readiness to address the golf ball in the right way must finally improve your golf swing. The common thought behind playing the golf ball is being able to do anything you want with it. As a component of a steady battle to improve your golf swing, it is vital to focus on aiming to strike the planned target when you set-up to the golf ball.

No victory will be reached in any sport without an excellent aim. Improving your golf swing takes a lot of practice. Visit your local driving range to better your aim and eventually your golf swing. As part of your training exercise, place two clubs on the practice tee. The first club placed parallel to the way you are going to position yourself and the latter club placed at a right angle to it. The parallel golf club will assist you to establish a square set up and the additional club running at right angles will isolate the position of the golf ball.

The line of your body runs to the left hand side of the target. When you gaze over your shoulder you will be looking at the left hand side of the objective. When you see the target area directly in front of you checking over your shoulder you are directing your golf swing to the right of the place you want to hit the ball. Your golf club head is also pointing right of the target.

The accurate lining up of your golf swing means that your body and especially your feet, knees and shoulders should be parallel to the path your shot is going to assume. You ought to weigh it up against playing the game on a railway line. Lines drawn through the knees, feet, hips and shoulder ought to be parallel to the left hand side track and the golf ball to be put on the right hand side towards the target.

While it may feel unnatural to set up in this manner it is a critical part in the development of the beginners golf swing. Being able to judge the intended line without actually having your eyes over the line the ball is going to take as well as standing sideways to it, turns into a crucial skill for any golf player. Misalignment will finally contribute to misdirection of the planned shot.

One of the methods to eliminate mistakes in alignment is to place yourself directly behind the ball-target line and select a position on the ground a few inches in front of where you placed the golf ball.  Concentrate on the selected mark instead of your intended objective in the distance. The mark could be anything from a leaf to maybe a piece of branch. After picking your aiming spot, take up your set up position by placing your feet and shoulders parallel to the imaginary line on the ground.

A few players like to keep the aiming spot in mind throughout the whole golf swing. Certain players fix on the aiming spot, but also like to then glance at their target a few times before they initiate their golf swing. This may possibly lead to a player feeling misaligned and wrongly changing his position to one that feels more comfortable, but that is clearly an incorrect position. Forget the alternative of looking up at the target area. Locate your spot, set-up and hit your stroke by making use the imaginary line. By following all the above tips you are sure to improve your golf swing.
